London Fashion Week

Every year, in the months of February and September, The London Fashion Week takes place. It is a weeklong event which showcases all the latest designs from the top designers in the world. Along with other prominent fashion shows such as the Milan Fashion Week, The New York Fashion Week and the Paris Fashion Week, the London Fashion Week completes the top four fashion weeks of the world. Thousands of persons attend this prestigious fashion event that has earned the reputation of being one of the most attended fashion events in recent times. The best thing about this event is that it is regarded as one that offers benefit to the taxpayers.

The British Fashion Council or BFC is the organization which is responsible for organizing this event and preparations for this mega event start several months in advance as invites are sent out to all the top designers asking them to display their showpieces for the eyes of the world. A vast majority of the audience is made of people from the press who come from all corners of the world to cover the event and see what is new in the world of fashion and spread it across the world. The London Fashion Week was first held in the year 1984 and since then its footfall has been steadily increasing with each progressing year.

Hundreds of sponsors lineup to sponsor the London Fashion Week as it gives them an unique opportunity to publicize their brand and create new customer base. Some of the major sponsors of this event include like the likes of automobile giant Mercedes-Benz and well-known hairdressing salon brand Toni & Guy. The total value of orders that get generated during the event are pegged at forty to hundred million pounds which is a sizeable amount of money. Most of the events that take place during the fashion week are held at the Somerset House located in Central London. It houses a large courtyard where a large marquee is set up to create the ramps for the models to do their catwalk wearing the latest designer wear.

The world’s top models make their presence felt in this event and they endorse the brands of the designers whom they work with. Recently, the shows are being broadcast directly in the internet so that a larger audience has access to it. To enjoy the live streaming, you can visit the official website of the London Fashion Week and get hold of the videos from the comfort of your home.
